The Dow Bay Area Family YMCA Opened on December 27, 2011, just in time for the New Year!

Everything you could possibly want in a gym membership PLUS SO MUCH MORE!

As I walked into the 96,400 square feet facility for a personal tour it had more of the feeling of a resort. As I had a cup of 'jamaican me crazy' coffee while we begin our tour with volunteer Dave Winters.

Scoring a big ten for the atmosphere with the large array of windows makes your view very pleasant and with the recent snow fall, very beautiful. My personal favorite part was the 1/8 mile track.

Magen Samyn, YMCA Board Member, who was also giving tours said, "It has been a lot of fun giving the tours and seeing the pure excitement on people's faces." "It's great seeing people of all ages." Samyn continued, "The building is fabulous. I have given approximately 50-60 people tours the past few days and every comment has been positive!" The YMCA has approximately 125 employed.

Stop in for a tour of the facility and see what your membership includes and for a program guide for selection of fitness, sports and family classes offered and child services. The YMCA offered a free day to workout and use the facility on December 30, 2011.

The new membership rates are:

  • Households: $936 annually, plus a one-time $234 fee to join. Covers up to two adults, all dependents and full-time students in the household.

  • Adult and seniors: $528 annually, plus a one-time $132 fee to join.

  • Youth memberships (ages 17 and under): $216 annually, plus a one-time $54 fee to join.

The photographs below feature a glimpse of the much anticipated completion of The YMCA.

Julie: The Y is a beautiful and "healthy" addition to our community. It is another excellent drawing tool for people to live in the Bay City area. (Like the main library)
