Saginaw Bay Riverdawgs Offers Youth Baseball Option

Saginaw Bay Riverdawg Travel Team Has Exploded Onto The Scene!

As we look at opportunities, both past and present, it is clear there are more options for our children to get involved in. Never has this been more evident than in baseball and softball. Still available are the local boys playing local boys in Little League, Connie Mack and Pony Leagues. But for those players looking to expand their talents and experiences, there are the travel teams and tournaments.

The Saginaw Bay Riverdawgs are such a travel team that has exploded onto the scene. This is an organization geared toward the talented athlete who wants to strive to be the best they can be and challenge themselves against similar national teams. Players must tryout for the teams and earn a spot. While there are many travel teams comprised of friends or classmates to play in weekend tournaments, this organization, the Riverdawgs, strive to develop a higher caliber team to challenge similar higher level talent.

The Riverdawgs got their start three and a half years ago. Mark Krzysiak and others formed a team and took them to Las Vegas to play in a national youth baseball tournament. Mark Krzysiak, Head Coach of the 14 and under team stated, "Some of the parents wanted to continue to play at this competitive high level of baseball so we created this option. Since then we have grown. We have gone from one team, to three teams, to six teams and now nine. We are pretty proud because we are getting some great players coming out for this organization."

Currently, the Riverdawgs have players not only from Bay City, Saginaw and Midland, but also from Sanford, Frankenmuth, Clare, Farwell and Davidson. No doubt as the word spreads and teams are added, this talent base will expand.

One key to the Riverdawgs recent success is the support and sponsorship of Peak Performance. This is a business located in the Hampton Mall that provides instruction and facilities for all levels of baseball and softball. Also key to their success is the area support and financial contributions. This helps defray the expenses associated with travel ball.

And travel they do. Recently the 14 and under team featured in this article played in a tournament in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Soon they will be traveling to Tennessee. This past November, they traveled to Pace, Florida and played in and won the USSSA North Florida Fall Classic.
