It is with regret that we announce that long time associate of MyBayCity, Jim Hollerback, passed away on October 26, 2019, after a long illness.
Jim would be recognized by many readers for his efforts to promote MyBayCity and to sell ads for the publication. Jim filled other roles over the years and was an asset to the organization. We're certainly going to miss his ideas and his efforts on behalf of the e-paper.
Jim was born on January 13, 1937 in Chesaning, Michigan before coming to Bay City. He graduated from Bay City Central High before going on to Bay City Junior College. He also had degrees and certificates from Delta College and Central Michigan University. His news background included being owner and editor of the weekly Birch Run Banner newspaper. He spent thirty years with Illinois Tool Works and retired as Regional Sales Manager. Jim was also a salesman then regional manager for the Acme/Interstate Steel division of Signode Corporation. He held two patents for "automatic refueling systems of ground vehicles".
Among his other achievements was service in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserve. He was a long time member of the Rotary Club of Bay City, the Saginaw Club, and the Elks where he was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Bay City Lodge.
Jim will be missed by the staff and management of MyBayCity.com. We close this chapter by saying "Farewell, Jim".
