Andrea Foster
On April 16, the Rotary Club joined the Bay City Optimists to honor Bay City's
Unsung Heros. This young women and men represent some of the best of the city's high school students. Nominated by their schools, these students express and demonstrate the way adults want and expect the next generation to be.
The speaker for the day was
Andrea Foster of
Little Forks Conservancy in Midland.
Andrea told her story of a less than optimal beginning that found her married with a child before the age of 20. She moved west with a husband who proved to be abusive. She then told of her first Unsung Hero who helped her move back home. She told of her work, schooling and a turned around life, mostly thanks to a series of Unsung Heroes.
Today Andrea has a job she loves. She works, trains, educates, and speaks on behalf of her employer Little Forks Conservancy. As one of the Optimist speakers said, "If you are from Midland you know Andrea and have probably heard her talk."
Andrea's inspiring story made clear the importance of "Unsung Heroes" in the life of a young person. Following her talk the Optimist presented each of the twenty one Young Heroes. Their nomination story was read and they were presented with a certificate and shirt.
Congratulations to all of these young people. They are truly the future of our country.
