Bay City is well known to have the best Fourth Of July fireworks show in Michigan. The three day festival featured a 20 minute show on Thursday and Friday followed by the grand 40 minute show on Saturday the Fourth.
With other communities around the state cutting back or entirely canceling their shows, the Bay City event drew even more people than usual. The parks and river were filled to capacity by a delighted crowd. Estimates ran as high an 100,000 people, move than double the population of Bay City itself.
This year a token admission was charged to enter the parks. With the cost of the show placed at well over $50,000, it's the only way to make this type of event possible.
A highlight of this years show was live music presented by Bay City's Bijou Orchestra, accompanied by a chorus of singers from the Bay City Rotary Club along with family members and friends of Rotary. The entire show was broadcast live on TV 12, making it widely seen in the region.
