Keeping the Dream Alive! The Jim Carbary Memorial Swim donation is allowing the Bay County Community Center Pool to host Free Swim for children 17 and under on Thursdays from 4:00pm to 6:00pm throughout the remainder of the swim season.
The American Legion Post 18 has coordinated with the Kawkawlin VFW Post 6950 to continue free swim for the children of our community! Jim Carbary's dream was to provide this opportunity to children in the summer. With the Kawkawlin VFW, the Carbarys made free swimming possible for many years at the Community Center Pool. Periodically during this time, Jim and his wife Nancy would come to the pool to see the joy on the children's faces as they enjoyed this wonderful summertime activity. The American Legion and VFW wanted to keep his dream alive by continuing the fundraising efforts in his honor after his passing.
Jim Barcia, Bay County Executive, wants to express his sincere appreciation for this continued effort and donation supporting the youth of our community. This generous free swimming donation provides a safe and joyous recreational experience for our most valuable asset, our children.
Free Swim will be on Thursdays throughout the remainder of the summer, weather permitting, for children 17 years and younger.
Free Swim Thursdays: 4:00pm - 6:00pm
The pool will be open until mid-August. It is open to the public from 12:00 noon - 6:00 PM Monday - Friday. You can find information on hours, swim lessons and more at our website: https://www.baycounty-mi.gov/CommunityCenter/Community-Center-Pool.aspx
Or you may call the Community Center at 894-0671 for further details.
