I just saw "A Star Is Born." Wow! It was good all the way around.
The story is about a young waitress who is a singer and songwriter. She is played by Lady Gaga. She is singing at a bar where Jackson Maine, Bradley Cooper, goes inside to have a drink. The rest, as they say, is history. Sam Elliot is Jack's brother Bobby. Anthony Ramos is her best friend Ramon. Andrew Dice Clay is her father Lorenzo. The acting is marvelous. The actors all just pulled you right into the story.
The screenplay was excellent. Bradley Cooper helped to write it. It is also a story of alcohol and drug addiction, which he admits he himself has suffered through. The directing was very well done. It has the essence of an experienced director. This was Cooper's first attempt at directing.
All in all, I know that this has the feel of an Academy Award winner. It could be for acting, writing, directing, and/or best picture. It really moved me. Bring some tissues.
So go. Have fun. Eat popcorn.
