BAY CITY, MI - May 8, 2018 - On May 15, Bay Area Community Foundation Will Host A Bay Commitment Scholarship Reception.

The Bay Area Community Foundation will host the Bay Commitment Scholarship award ceremony at First Presbyterian Church at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, in honor of the scholarship's 10th anniversary. One hundred graduating seniors from Bay County high schools will receive a $2,000 scholarship to attend Delta College or Saginaw Valley State University. Past recipient Mallory Rivard, SVSU and Western High School graduate, will be the featured speaker.

The Bay Commitment Scholarship provides funds to students who are first-generation college students (the parent with whom the student resides has not obtained a bachelor's degree) and will attend college locally at either Delta College or Saginaw Valley State University in the fall. Students must be graduating from a Bay County high school and have also been Bay County residents for six years. Recipients who attend SVSU will also be eligible for a renewable $1,000 scholarship provided by SVSU for second, third, and fourth years of study.

"In the past 10 years, $2 million has been invested in our local students through the Bay Commitment program," said Diane Fong, Bay Area Community Foundation President & CEO. "This support is possible only because of our dedicated and generous donors who believe that education is a top priority in our community. We are grateful to them for allowing us to help students achieve their academic dreams."
