Trinity Episcopal Church announces details for Choral Evensong on Sunday, May 21, 2017, for the Sixth Sunday of Easter. Evensong is comprised of hymns, prayers, a sung psalm, scripture readings, a sung Song of Mary and Song of Simeon. The service will be sung by the Trinity Choir and guests. The last program in the series will be the annual Patriotic Concert on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at 4:00 p.m.

The choir will sing "Blessed Be the God and Father" by English composer S. S. Wesley (1810-1878), and "Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis" by French composer Charles Gounod (1818-1893). The music for the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis was given in memory of Kathleen Mary Lewis, born December 23, 1923, died September 25, 2016. The Psalm for the Sixth Sunday of Easter is Psalm 34 sung to Gregorian Psalm Tone V.3.

Organ music will include "Study in Canon" by C. H. Lloyd (1849-1919) and "SortiƩ" by Edward Maroney (b. 1949). Hymns are "God is Working His Purpose Out (Purpose) by Martin Fallas Shaw (1875-1958), "O Trinity of Blessed Light" (Bromley) by Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) and "The Day Thou Gavest" (St. Clement) by Clement Cottevill Scholefield (1839-1904).

Other participants include Reverend Susan Rich, officiant; Betsy Greenwood, acolyte and lector; Nicholas Schmelter, organist; Bradley Wiechelman, cantor; Rayechel Berger, soprano soloist; and Robert Sabourin, director.

The service is open to the public free of charge.

Trinity Episcopal Church is located at 815 N. Grant Street on the corner of Grant and Center Avenue. Barrier free access is from the church parking lot on the west side of the building. Friends of Music will host a reception in the Guild Room following the service. For more information call 989-892-5813.
