LANSING ? State Representative Charles Brunner (D-Bay City) will host an informative town hall meeting on Monday, March 12 at 1 p.m. at the Sage Branch Library, 100 E. Midland St. in Bay City, to answer residents' questions on the recent changes to the Michigan tax structure.
Specifically, a new tax has already begun to take dollars from the retirement income of seniors at rates that are determined by their birth year. This new tax structure represents a major shift: taxpayers must now pay a great deal more for state government programs and services.
Many seniors are living on a fixed income, and taking essential dollars away will prove harmful. Community members can find out more about the changes, connect with resources that might be helpful as they prepare for the new tax system, and share their thoughts on the new tax burden imposed on Michigan families.
