It's Christmas time in my hometown
And everywhere I go
I see the lights and ornaments
As I walk through falling snow
Red and green and silver
The colors of the season
Make us feel all warm and cheery
And give us each a reason
To recall the days when we were young
And sat upon old Santa's knee
In the window of the hardware store
We smiled and laughed with glee
The songs we learned in days gone by
Are remembered with much fondness
As we share the memories so dear
And make new ones now with gladness
The windows of the shops downtown
Are arrayed in holiday splendor
With blinking lights on starry nights
We stop and look in wonder
At the toys and trains and baby dolls
All shiny and brand new
Yes, Christmas is still for children
But it's also for me and you
As you celebrate the season
And hold your loved ones near
Don't forget to remember Lord Jesus
And thank Him for all this year
For because of his love and kindness
And understanding heart
We are able to celebrate Christmas
And from his spirit never part
