MOVIE REVIEW: "The Nun"

We went and saw "The Nun."

Good movie. Not great but good.

It has been criticized for having only "jump-scares" and not much of a story. I found the scares adequate and the story was fine.

It revolves around a priest with a haunted past and a novice nun being sent by the Vatican to investigate the death of a young nun in Romania and confront a malevolent force in the form of a demonic nun. You?ve all seen the demonic nun on the trailers and one of the jump-scares.

The young nun, Sister Irene is played by Taissa Farmiga. She is in actuality the younger sister of Vera Farmiga who plays Lorraine Warren in all the Conjuring movies. Father Burke is played by Damian Bichir. They both do an alright job. The other nuns in the convent aren't acted too well. The slight comic relief is provided by Jonas Bloquet who plays Frenchie, their guide to the convent.

It is filmed at Corvin Castle in Transylvania. If any castle is haunted that?s the one. The scenery is lovely.

I enjoyed it enough for one show, but not two.

So go. Have fun. Eat popcorn.
