Rotary Inducts New President and New Members
Annual Passing of the Gavel
The Rotary Club of Bay City joined on July 3 to celebrate the passing of the gavel from
President Bob Chadwick
to incoming President Harvey Schneider
Bob used his final meeting to recap many of the high points and achievements of the past year.
He thanked many members, committee chairs, and the club in general for a successful year.
Those points are outlined below.
As his final official act, President Bob passed the gavel to Harvey and then pinned the official President's Lapel Pin onto Harvey's collar.
This particular pin has been in the club for many years and has been passed from President to President down the years.
One of the most important pieces of advice a former President can give to his successor, after passing that pin is "DON'T LOSE IT!
After being inducted, Harvey thanked Bob and gave him a gift from the club. He also said that while at the Rotary International Convention last week, he had looked high and low for some memento that "spoke to him" and he could get for Bob. As the perfect gift, Harvey presented a rock with Bob printed on the side.
As his first official act, President Harvey inducted Tara Welch
as the incoming President Elect. Tara will be followed by Carrie Strohkirch
in two years.
Just as Bob had admonished him, Harvey fastened the pin to Tara's collar then said "DON'T LOSE IT!
A most important part of any Rotary Club is recruiting new members. Over the past year, the club brought in seven new members. Following the induction of officers, the new President Harvey asked Andreas Teich
to induce two new members and one returning member.
