MOVIE REVIEW: "Adrift" - Starring Shailene Woodley

We saw "Adrift."

Interesting movie. It is a true story. It stars Shailene Woodley as Tami, the heroine and Sam Claflin as Richard her boyfriend.

She's been traveling since high school taking jobs in various marinas. They meet at a marina where he brings his boat for some minor repairs. They date. They fall in love.

The young couple gets asked by some friends to sail their boat back to San Diego for them as the owners go back home. On their way, they try to avoid but wind up being hit by a huge hurricane. The boat almost sinks. They both get injured. Richard is in bad shape. The rest of the story is their attempt to reach land.

The plot switches back and forth in time from before the devastating hurricane to their attempt to survive. Some may find it difficult to follow, but you shouldn't, just pay attention. They two older couples behind us talked most of the time so they kept getting confused. (Please don't talk so loudly in the theater so people can follow your conversation. For those who know me, yes I did say something.)

The actors did a great job. I can't believe the strength Tami must have had to accomplish what she did. The cinematography was beautiful. The special effects were well done.

So go. Have fun. Eat popcorn.
