MOVIE REVIEW: Book Club Is Well Worth the Price of a Ticket

Five of us saw "Book Club."

What fun! We all agreed it was well worth the price of a ticket.

Simply listing the cast is reason enough to go. Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, Mary Steenbergen, Craig T. Nelson, Richard Dreyfus, Don Johnson and Andy Garcia.

The four ladies are lifelong friends who have had their own book club for years. They take turns choosing the book. One month Vivian picks "Fifty Shades of Grey."

One of the ladies has been widowed a year, one has never been married, one has been divorced for 17 years and one in a slowing down marriage.

They are all fairly independent woman but very close to each other. While reading the book ideas start brewing. It leads to them all deciding to make the next chapter in their lives the best chapter yet.

This is the director, Bill Holderman?s directorial debut. I was impressed. A director can make or break a movie. He did an excellent job leading all these seasoned actors through the script. It was somewhat predictable but hilarious.

One of my friends said she would probably see it again with some others who couldn't go with us. She said that was fine with her because she was certain she missed some jokes while laughing at others.

I recommend it.

"Mature" women and men will especially enjoy it. However, younger audiences will too.

So go. Have fun. Eat popcorn
