Annual Vocational Day Welcomes Students From All Area High Schools
The
Noon Rotary Club collaborated with the
Morning Rotary Club this year to jointly sponsor the annual
Vocational Day. Juniors and Seniors from Bay County High Schools were hosted by local businesses, McLaren Health System, and Delta College to get a hands-on introduction to the world that awaits them after their educational life.
Trevor Keyes from the Noon Club and
Matt Felan from the Morning Club organized the day. The Rotarians coordinated with school counselors to organize the event, recruit business hosts, and assign students.
Keyes introduced the program and spoke briefly about the purpose and benefits. He then introduced the school counselors who, in turn, called on a few students who spoke about their activities of the day.
The event was well received by everyone and the two clubs thank both students and hosts for making the event the success it always is.
CLUB NEWS and ANNOUNCEMENTS
The RI President has asked each club to plant 80 trees this year. Harvey Schneider is chairing that project and he reported on what he's learned, including the input from Mike Stoner of Pinconning. The current thought is to purchase and package seedlings and distribute these to students to do the actual planting.
The
Dictionary and Thesaurus project is in progress. If you can deliver books to schools please see
Ann Grady to sign up.
Next summer's
International Convention will be in Toronto, an easy trip for many of us.
Be sure you sign up with her if you can make this life-changing Rotary experience.
