MOVIE REVIEW -- "The Big Sick"

July 30, 2017
By: Kathy Rupert-Mathews

"The Big Sick" was such a good movie. It made me laugh, tear up and ultimately feel good. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It is the true story of how actor/writer Kumail Nanjiani met his wife of 10 years, Emily Gordon. They wrote the movie together.

Kumail is an American of Pakistan birth. He is doing stand-up comedy when they first meet. Kumail plays himself and Emily is played by Zoe Kazan. His mother and father, played by Zenobia Shroff and Anupam Khmer, are traditional Pakistan parents and they feel they need to pick his wife. Emily becomes very ill and her parents played by Holly Hunter and Ray Romano come into the picture.

It is an R-rated movie but has no violence or nudity. I believe it's from the frequency of the f-word.

I loved the movie.

So go. Have fun. Eat popcorn.
