A voyage of discovery awaits youth participants of BaySail's Windward Bound sail training voyage program aboard the schooner Appledore V.
What is your teen achieving this summer?
How about joining the professional crew of the Appledore V and voyaging around the Great Lakes? During the Windward Bound program, trainees acquire a new found appreciation of their environment and a deeper understanding of their own potential, all while being captivated by life aboard a tall ship.
Windward Bound trainees can expect to:
Navigate and help to plot a course
Become familiar with nautical terms & stand watch
Set, handle and strike sails
Build self-confidence
Become an important member of the crew/team
Discover and explore the Great Lakes ecosystem
Windward Bound graduates are eligible to join a year-round training program and enjoy future sailing opportunities as volunteer crew.

Voyage 2: Buffalo, NY to Oswego, NY, June 27 - July 5
Voyage 3: Oswego, NY to Ogdensburg, NY, July 4 - 12
Voyage 4: Ogdensburg, NY to Quebec, Quebec, July 11 - 21
Voyage 5: Quebec, Quebec to Oswego, NY, July 19 - 31
Voyage 6: Oswego, NY to Bay City, MI, July 30 - August 9
Voyage 7: Bay City, MI to Ludington, MI, August 20 - 25
