Kids Strut Their Stuff

By O. J. Cunningham

Bay City Central High School bands, choirs, singers and dancers strutted their stuff during a three-night performance at the 72nd Annual Band Bounce.

The theme of Band Bounce 2002 was New York City as a tribute to the heroes and heroines of the September 11 terrorist attack on one of the nation's finest cities.

Band Directors Tim Nadeau and Kristy Keenan along with Choir Director Amy Hughes led their charges through a three hour program that had the jam-packed audience calling out for more and more.

The BCC Gold Jazz Band led off the evening's entertainment with a 45 minute jam session that had the audience stomping their feet. Broken Crayon, featuring a BCC quartet of rockers provided the halftime show. The BCC Marching Band sent everyone home with a rousing God Bless America, Central Alma Mater and Central Fight Song trilogy.

In between, singers and dancers paraded in front of the sold out audience. Drama groups, under the direction of Pam Barnes perfromed. Coach Estee Clarey's Pom Pon squad were magnificent. Coach Beth Taylor's Chorus Line brought the house to their feet.

Other singers included Meagan Young, Angela Lanza, Sage Lasecki, Adam Kenneth Whyte, Angel Shores, Katie Schell, Andy Hickner, Emily Miller, Lindsay Paige, The Guys, Melanie Peridore, Sarah Schram and Pat Harris.

RiverDancers Jane Dykema and Paul Fox along with jazz dancers Ryan Schmidt, Beth Bierlein, Jenna Goik, Katie LaRoche, Danielle Brunette and Jennifer Voss also turned in strong, popular performances.
