December's wintry breath is already clouding the pond, frosting the pane, obscuring summer's memory...
John Geddes
December is the only month I willingly oblige cold air and fluffy white stuff on the ground.
Houses dressed in twinkling lights of the holiday season cheer me. They bring a warm glow into the frigid air.
They bring memories of Christmas past and anticipation of the weeks to come. Parties, dresses that sparkle, family time, overexcited children and the reverence and hope of true Peace On Earth.
We decorate with fresh smelling boughs and relics from holidays past.
Handmade tree ornaments from our children, Grandma's manger or the special tree skirt our mother quilted for us. We un-box our treasures and lovingly recall the stories they tell us.
December...
Cold. Dark. Slippery. Calorie filled. Expensive. Seemingly unending.
And wonderful.
