Everybody's working for the weekend
Everybody wants a new romance, hey yeah
Everybody's going off the deep end
Everybody needs a second chance, oh
I don't know if that song has anything to do with actually working at all, but the media onslaught of how terrible it is that certain retailers are choosing to make employees work on Thanksgiving continues to befuddle me.
I worked in retail for a good portion of my life. When hired, you are told, you will work weekends and holidays. Now suddenly people are outraged over the fact that they have to work holidays.
People say things like "It's Thanksgiving, we need to spend time with our families!". The piece of propaganda in this article says "If I'm shopping someone else is working and not spending time with their families."
Wait a minute!!! If you're shopping . . . you're not spending time with your family!
You have a few things going for you. How about this.
1. You have a job.
2. Celebrate Thanksgiving on a different day.
3. You have a job.
