It is a good divine that follows his own instructions.
William Shakespeare
I gave my son, who is coming into adulthood and facing the unique challenges that come with it, some surprisingly well-received advice recently. In his quest to find his destiny and purpose in life, I offered the following words.
"Sometimes being 'rich' creatively is more fulfilling than being rich financially and knowing the difference, makes all the difference."
"Follow the path you truly feel inspired on and if you wander off, retrace your steps."
"Life isn't about getting to a place where the goal is to be 'situated'. It is a journey to enjoy and explore."
"Don't settle for mediocrity. You will recognize it by it's blandness and lack of color in your world."
"Don't give up on what you know is the heart of you. Your heart knows it, even if your brain isn't quite on board yet."
Easy words and catch phrases quite frankly, albeit prudent philosophies. However, not so easy sometimes to put into practice.
Today, I think it's befitting to lead by example and start following my own advice...
