When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive, to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love! Then make that day count!
Steve Maraboli
Although I am most certainly not a 'morning person' in the traditional sense and one should not attempt talking to me until I have had a steaming hot, caffeine filled "cup of joe," I really do appreciate the start of a new day.
There is something comforting about the ritual of turning off porch lights and opening the blinds to let in the light of a new day every morning. The smell of coffee brewing, the dog doing his "let me out, I've got to go" dance and the awkward, yet necessary set of stretching out the muscles may seem insignificant.
However, the small acts we perform as we get ready to face new challenges, give hope to fresh beginnings and thankfulness to the gift of another day here on earth.
We get another chance to make it right, grab the brass ring or simply revel in nature's beauty.
The mundane little things we perform in our daily life can be a small slice of sanity in a sometimes insane world.
So go ahead, give yourself permission for a good cup of coffee or two, a lengthy stretch and a big-mouthed, noisy yawn and then go Carpe Diem!
