I honestly love to go camping.
I really do.
I don't love getting ready for camping. It feels like by the time I'm done loading the 30,001 things we don't need into the camper, hooking the camper up, figuring out where to put the kids bike and putting the gas in the truck, I really just need to take a nap.
It's now Labor Day Friday. We're all loaded up, I've got Brady's bike strapped to the roof of my trailblazer, along with two coolers full of juice boxes and Capri Suns.
We have enough clothing to last us until Jesus comes back, but yet we always seem to forget something simple like . . . socks.
Right now, I think we look like the Griswolds ready to leave on vacation.
I was always spoiled as a kid when it came to camping. Grandma & Grandpa picked me up in their Motor Home. They had clothes for me, unfashionable for sure, but clothes none the less. I even had my own toothbrush loaded in the camper ready to go.
Now as a semi-responsible parent/adult, I have to make sure my son has the same experience.
He thinks it's great!
Jump in the truck!
Drive to the campground!
Jump out of the truck!
And . . . when we get to the campground, milliseconds later, he will be riding his bike.
Where does he get the energy to ride a bike after all that?
Oh thats right, all he had to do was watch "Cars 2" & "Despicable Me" on his portable DVD Player in the back seat.
We'll be camping this weekend at The Lake George Campground.
Look for me. I'll be on site 48, sleeping.
Happy Labor Day!
