Are You In The Front Row?

When you are at a concert or a similar event, do you fight for a front row seat?
I guess it depends on your interest. Sometimes it may not be worth the fight up front. As for my obligations for coverage of such events, forces me to cover all angles and yes, to get front row, up close and etc. And even though I am Media it sometimes is Not an easy task.
A recent observation of mine as I was ushering at the Church I am a member at, I noticed a lot of people choose to sit near the back. Even though there are many open seats up front. Now my duties as an usher, normally leave me standing in the back. (Behind the last row)
And it just made me think, why don't people want to be front row to hear the word of God. Almost every event, concert or play draws us up front. What about being front row for the word of God?
How about trying the front row or near, and see if you have a better experience, move around, try different areas, see if the experience is better. I notice when I work the side doors that are closer to the front of the Church, I can hear much better and am less distracted.
Another observation I see is people filtering out after Communion or before the end of the last hymn. There are 168 hours in a week, spending 1 hour of that time at Church, doesn't seem like it is a lot of time to dedicate.
Can You Sing?
As I welcome people as they enter Church and hand out the worship aids. There will be a few that decline the worship aid, and say, "No thanks, I can't sing anyway" . . . I just smile and think I can relate because I can't sing either. But on the other hand, it does not stop me from singing, I admit sometimes I may not sing, but I still follow along by reading the words. Does God care that we are bad singers??
'Sunday's Best' ??
Does God care what our hair looks like and/or how we are dressed at Church?
I'm thinking maybe not, but there is something to be said about the saying wearing 'Sunday's Best' I remember my mother saying something about wearing jeans in Church, and instead dressing your best out of respect because you are in the house of the Lord. Makes sense to be dressed our best while in the Lord's House.
Here is a motto that I like to keep in mind:
'Step Outside Your Comfort Zone.. Thats Where True Sacrifice is Found'

Julie I see you every once in awhile at church,I belong to another parish where I cantor and I know exactly what you are saying. The first three rows are usually empty. Now even as a kid my family always sat in the first row. One it helped us kids not mess around so much and two it was easier to pay attention,kind of hard not to when you have Father practically talking right to you. Any way I usually don,t respond to articles but I thought I would on this one to let you know I feel the same way.
