Pinconning boys basketball continues their new found tradition of winning.

Surprisingly poised at 12-2, Pinconning used a combination of dominating inside play and three pointers to beat their North East Michigan Conference (NEMC) foe Oscoda 65-43.

Pinny's Brandon Delgado quarterbacked a balance attack with sharp passing and quick ball movement as seven players scored 6 or more points.

Although winning by 18 points the Spartans earned the big win by stifling an owl comeback bid.

After building a 16 point half time lead, things got tight in the third quarter.

Oscoda's sharpshooter Adam Dettmer who finished with 28 points, scored 13 of the Owls 14 points in the quarter.

Dettmer's hot hand combined with some cold shooting by Pinconning allowed Oscoda to pull to within 9 points before Dettmer picked up his 4th foul and had to leave the game with 2 minutes left in the quarter.

That's when Pinconning's Dustin Stone came off the bench and hit a three-pointer with 52 seconds left to put the Spartan's offense back on track.

The Spartan momentum continued into the final quarter as Delgado's penetrating passes allowed the Spartan inside game to take over in the paint with high percentage chip ins to seal the win.

Andrew Holbrook put the final dagger into the heart of the Owls with two straight three-pointers with just over 3 minutes to play to push the Spartans into a 20 point lead and insured the victory.

Pinny Coach Tim Floyd was proud of the way his kids showed their metal as he had this to say after the game, "This game was scary, I never felt comfortable all game, but every time they got close, we popped a three pointer."

Delgado and Justin Stone led Pinny with 11 while Holbrook added 9. As a team Pinny had seven players with six or more points.
