Bay City Central Girls kept up with the high scoring Saginaw High Trojans in the first quarter 15-15.

They even matched their visiting Saginaw Valley League Conference foe in the fourth 18-18, unfortunately for the Wolves the 32-9 second and 20-6 third counted towards the final 85-48 loss.

The lady Wolves have proven they can play with every team they met this year, even if it is just one or two quarters.

Central coach Todd Thunberg had a couple observations after the game, "the first quarter went the way we wanted it to, then we had a mental lapse leading to our eventual downfall."

That mental lapse he referred to is the Wolves lack of confidence and inexperience at finishing and winning ball games.

"Saginaw scored 32 points in the second quarter, we tried to increase the tempo of the game a bit but that lead us right into their hands. Saginaw was quicker and faster than us," added Thunberg.

The Wolves were lead by Danette Decorte with 15 and Megan Charlebois with 13.

Saginaw (9-6, 4-4) were led by freshman Sparkle Perkins with 19.

The Wolves host a non-conference game against Saginaw Nouvel on Wed. and then travel to Midland on Friday.
